ghosting

ghosting

A Poem by Laura

some would call it serendipity;

not quite sure what we were looking for,

but managing to find exactly what we wanted

between the seventy seven miles separating us

the right person at the wrong time;

desperately wanting to wrap myself around you

plant roots that would sleep beneath your feet

all while knowing we'll never bloom

your drunken midnight messages;

i could drink an entire case of you

each drop as sickeningly sweet as the last

clinging to the flooding warmth within the void

you can't miss something that never began;

a wild web i've woven myself in

your speckled eyes lurking behind my own

a recurring dream that i've had every night

sunny south carolina awaits you;

breezy brooklyn beckons me

i'm in love with the world through the eyes of a girl

who will never experience it with me
