A Poem by Laura

We let our wondering hang off the edge of ourselves
until it slipped from our loose grips.
The wanting came in waves,
crashing upon my worries and falling into your arms.

I was struck with trembling knees and a shy smile
as your hazel eyes flickered with each shared glance.
I was enslaved by your peppery skin and gentle touch.
Sleepyheads and smoke, stars soaked the sky as we shivered.

We dangled our knotted legs off the edge of that bench,
until our hands tangled to warm amongst the cold.
The moon waned to crescent,
sinking my fears and raising my lips to touch yours.

I was thrust back into the dark that November night
with your eyes acting as my candles.
I was falling, and our souls were flying.
Hazy heads, your hand finally mine to hold.

I loved the descriptive weave of this piece. It really made the emotions come to life in a sureal way, making the poem a very memorable piece to read. The image that would come to mind was kinda like, love being a slinky and it just kept slinking down the cliff and onto the warf and onto the bench and right into the heart... Then the emotions went squish and everyone cheered. At least that's what kind jumped into my head.

Thanks for sharing your ink!

Beautiful romantic poem. I love the imagery, especially in the first stanza with the last two lines. There seems to be two things going on here: the physical and the emotional, and the dichotomy of hot and cold fits in beautifully with the physical (cold) and emotional (hot). Beautiful poem! Thank you for writing it and sharing it with us!
