I'm Wrong

I'm Wrong

A Poem by LaurenKangas

LIES...
she tells as if they're her story
as if the truth is an inconvenience to her
as if the crystal words sting her tongue
as if they linger.

FACTS...
she thinks of as unknown territory
as if she has no knowledge of a glass concept
as if she can't admit the right to herself
as if she has no comprehension of a familiar phrase
as if its something unkept, unclean.

HIDING...
she will if that's al there is left
as if the words she puts together are her concrete curtain
as if they protect her from what is really within
as if she were alice; through the looking glass- broken
as if she can escape the pain.

LIGHT...
she has not seen for a while
as if it burns through her transparent sheets
as if a willing bask is too much to bare
as if she can't bring herself to the realization of good
as if it is an unwelcome friend, an uncanny surprise back again

TIME...
she watches tick away behind her shattered looking glass
as if it were a trick, an illusion
as if it wasn't real enough to deserve a turned head
as if the seconds wasted away didn't mean a thing
as if everything was chaos...anarchy.

BREAKING...
she will when she grows and matures as everyone young shall do
as if she's the exception, the loophole, the rule
as if she is unable to confront what is behind the glass
as if she is convinced her fate has decided to spare her
as if she's the special, the only, the one.

HER...
Facade will collapse and bring forth what is buried.
Being one with what has been spoken as past comes in sly.
Until she's engulfed; drowned by the pieces and chips cutting away at her last lonely breath.

the LIES told and FACTS neglected, HIDING from the truthful LIGHT; only TIME before her front will be BREAKING.

Just two simple words can set her free at last.
