An Anniversary Present

This Marriage, Three.....

 

We are Three,

You and I.

Where I go,

God stands by

 

You married me;

He stands with us.

We join together

I give him my trust.

 

In one marriage

We made a family

We raised our children

We offered them

A united front

A three-legged chair

Of leadership provided most fair

 

As we exchanged rings

Golden circles of infinity

Sparkled in the light

bonds of marriage forged

with respect, compassion

bonds resolutely cast

bonds formidable to last

 

Vows were said, promises kept

Together forever, eternity swept

Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit

Ever present, always

Three in one, eternally

 

He stands with us in times of stress

He stands with us in times of strife

He stands with us to shape our life

He holds fast in storms most rife

 

He comes unbidden in the night

to reassure me until morning’s light

holds my hand and calms my fears

of work and stress, without the tears

 

He strengthens you in silence, wait

He warms my heart with love and faith

He is our third, our silent part,

He rights the wrongs that wound our heart

 

He is our silent partner

With wisdom undenied

Ever present in eternity

Always certain and sublime

 

Rock strong in his fortitude

Forgiveness limitless

He is our Holy Father

The third person

of our pair.

i like the metaphor of the three legged stool :) adding God to the strength of human commitment brings the greatest tool we can have through difficult times ... faith and prayer ... :)
