Beautiful heartfelt poem, death is inevitable and may the only certainty after, death after a fulfilled life is more meaningful and many people can not achieve that goal too, in the contrary meaning and no meaning to life is very relative in many aspects, my sister passed away recently but had no children but a very kind soul, hope she is in heaven and the person in this poem may say hi to my sister

In reviews we describe what we thought about the poem just read. In this case, I can see the scene and I feel it. There is a spirituality to it however, that i not so easy to describe. You did a great job of writing this in a way that makes the heart take notice.
The song is one I listened to growing up and still listen to it today. :)
This is so very beautiful, you have me choked up too.

I'm happy you dropped in to read this one. I've heard of people having so many children they have created their own soccer team, but never their own funeral procession. It was a sad, emotional day. My friend is still mourning her sister. Thanks again for dropping in...:)

You're welcome. I'm sure the kids will support one another.
it's as if I were there in the church, then marching out behind the coffin to see the lady to her final abode. it's that good. feeling for your fellow humans even though you've never really met them is a clear indication of a big heart full of compassion. a very touching one Anne.

However, I couldn't get the image out of my mind until I put it to words. You know what I mean? Sometimes, my muse doesn't let me rest until he is satisfied. Thank you again for dropping in. It means a lot to me to see your helpful, supportive comments..:)

Ah, you made my heart skip a beat with your lovely words. What an incredible way to describe the scene, and what an incredible way to describe life's journey. There is only birth and death in this world, in between there is life. After my grandfather's death, I have developed a great understanding about such matters and about the futility of mourning once that someone is gone. Dying does not scare me any more. I have learnt to accept it as a law of nature, much like a child learns to accept gravity after he falls. Thank you for such a beautiful poem, Bright ocean star!!! :))

You are welcome, my friend. I'm happy you liked it...:)
Poets are sensitive by nature for we always put our hearts on our sleeves... the loss of any life is tragic, I always feel it deep down when I see death on the news. A very moving poem.
poets probably empathize more than most...we write what we feel, and we feel most of what is around us...
excellent piece...first line i think should be "see"---
but you capture the emotions of the event as it affected generations...this woman had a pronounced effect on so many, including the poet who is the onlooker...taking it all in and transcribing it.

This woman was definitely blessed to have her children look out for her until the end. This definitely isn't my best poem. It may not be a poem at all...but the whole concept was truly poetry in life. Thank you again!
