My Girl

My Girl

A Poem by Bright Ocean Star
"

Inspired by her piercing eyes

"

My Hungry Girl

Silver hairs stand liquid black

Eyes alert and no way slack

Ears straight up and twitch with sound

Head alert, nerves unbound

Muscles tense, crouched, and ready

She smells the chicken cooking steady

Scents waft down to her place

Lying patient in corner’s trace

Begging pretty in her spot

She knows momma’s cooking pot

Coiled limbs and tail a wagging

No extra flesh falls a sagging

Purest muscle, lean, and toned

No sign of her sneaking bone

Swift of foot and fleet of stair

She launches herself into the air

Fast and low, she runs with power

Patrols the yard and tackles showers

Strangers fear her mighty gait

Head stands still, her back straight

Enter at your own risk, should you dare

She takes no prisoners, so beware….

A wonderful ode to a beloved companion. If this is what happens when you procrastinate then you should procrastinate more often. A wonderful write!

Haha, an ode to your girl. Very interesting....:) Perfect rhymes as always, and the rhythm is top notch. Although, I think you could change the second "alert" in the first paragraph to "aware" or "wary" maybe.

The descriptions are excellent. You couldn't have described her in a better way. I can easily visualze her. Sounds like a great dog! :)

Thank you, Woody. She's a powerful little love bug. I'm happy you found this one...:)
she's a keeper for sure .. change the color to fawn and add a bucket of sticky drool and you have our Bella Mia ;)

and yes those eyes .. more imploringly pathetic than a beggar at Walmart :) i suppose she got a good dose of chicken soup that day right!?

love you and your Girl!!! .. do be well ... :}
I had a cat once, named "Colby." One of my neighbors (a lady from Korea) asked if he was baby panther. :D Everyone called him my guard cat and no one got past him without inspection. He'd prowl around their ankles growling low until I welcomed them in.
