Cat, There's a Mouse in the House!

Cat, There's a Mouse in the House!

A Poem by Bright Ocean Star
"

just something stupid that went through my brain...

"

Cat, There’s a Mouse in the House!

Poised and silent you watch your world

For what untold miraculous swirl

Of furtive tail and ratty smell

You sit coiled muscles pointed ears

To watch the room and hear the fears

Oh mighty tremors doth thy tiny beast feel

At sneaky, furtive, racing heart

He crosses the room before he’s caught

Hunters rest, lie in wait

The time is near, best not delay

Oh, wee knee-knocking heart pounding beast

The cat sees you, ‘tis best not to feast

Run fast, run true, run out of here, you!

Or catch you in the trap of fate

Mine on cheese or his on a plate!

My cat inspired this one. I often wonder what he thinks as he sits on my couch surveying his kingdom?

Well, if you're on Twitter (should be named, "Catter"), you well know the fascination cats inspire. Your poem adeptly demonstrates some reasons for that fascination. Cats cannot really be domesticated and will always remain our resident little bit of wildlife, condescending to share space with us, and deigning to bear our company awhile.

I thought it was wonderful - the image in my mind was scarey, funny, lively and I was continually hoping for your cat the just get it over with. Very well written & I thank you for a lovely morning adventure. Dale
