I wrote this poem to give my dearest son a boost of morale to help him through the hardest time of his life, U.S. Marine basic training. May God bless him....
My son is in Junior Navy class in high school
god bless him he sounds like a great boy and sounds
just as brave as mom is :)
Did he just get into the marines new to it ?
I will keep him in our thoughts and prayers
he sounds like a Bright young man you sound
very proud Mom.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece
it made me cry and thinking how fast my boy is growing up
so hard to believe really.
Blessings. Benita/ kindred poet

He was a poolee with the local marine recruiting office for one and a half years before they took him this june. He just graduated and is ecstatic about being a full fledged active duty marine. Thank you for reading and enjoying this poem. As a mom, we are limited in what we can do for them when they are away, but I think little poems here and there helped him keep his spirits up. Be blessed, dear friend.

I need to work on another one that will make him bend over and die laughing...If you want to help in this regard, you are more than welcome to exercise that part of your literary muscle. He's a 19 year old young man...so I'm thinking something completely irreverent...perhaps warning him of the risks of fornicating with the wrong women, perhaps? (just a thought...) :)

Hard to be funny when you are a mom in this position.

Perhaps someday the human race shall get over its penchant for war, but until then we shall honor all those who selflessly stand between us and harms way on this ruthless world that knows no peace. I wish the best for your brave son.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to me, the men at the top in nations far away tend to be megalomaniacs bent on conquest instead of taking care of their own people. This is not a peaceful planet we inhabit. Our constant prayers are needed every day. Peace be to you, my friend.
Your son is very lucky to have you..and these words would certainly do great :)
Lovely read ..

Poor kid, I hear the marine's have the hardest basic training.
But he'll survive. It all depends on his will, and by the way you speak of him, it sounds like he really wants this.
So... Hoorah!
You're a great parent.
Well done. ^^

WOW that was so awesome… the poem showed just how much you beam with pride and it is east to see why. Glad you sent it to him, I am sure he is beaming with pride with you as a mom.
What a way of boosting moral of your son, truly wonderful. Tell your son we all are proud of our marines!

If only I could come up with an absurdly funny one maybe about a woman with a big butt that is completely and totally politically incorrect, I might actually get him to laugh...Thank you for stopping by again.
