Moonlight Ponderings……

________________________________________________

Ponder, we do, the midnight sky

Each of us, alone, separate and nigh

You in Ecuador and me here

Separated in longing quite severe

Pondering the stars and the moon lit night

Sharing the glow yet out of sight

I cannot see your face or feel your touch

Yet a connection exists ever so rough

May you gaze upon the lunar orb above

And think of me as I gaze in love

Waiting until the time we can share

The touch and kiss sans distance fair

Mind’s restless wanderings a far

Of hikes past in Audobon’s park

And shared explorations

Through Nottaway’s Plantation

Of cross country expeditions

You in your truck and me in my car

I’d follow you anywhere

Down highways domain

Roadside hotels and eating lomain

Ever, just out of touch of me

My mind and my life to be

A wanderer, explorer of life’s questions….

You cannot be satisfied

Living  statesside

with land and a horse

Some puppies, a pack, and children of course….

My heart is yours to be carried at will

Yet you belong somewhere I cannot follow

For studies could not be treated so shallow

Our time is not now, nor will it ever be

Our time together must be just a memory

White, gray, dusky clouds pass across our midnight light

Our spectral connection is lost in the dust

Of nature’s time and distance’s cusp.

What was is then best tucked away

In the precious memories of the day

Yet often times I read of you

I hear your name and ponder anew

I look up and what do I see?

The moon at full swoon, looking down on just me.

I enjoyed the lines regarding how the stars and moon are a conduit. It's true that even afar, we share certain things at the same exact time, regardless of distance. That energy is powerful and strong. True chemistry, love and yearning in this story. Awesome.

This is lovely...before Skype and facetime there were the stars and the moon to gaze together yet apart. You've brought that connection back with celestial beauty. There is a quiet sigh throughout this piece.

Wonderful pondering indeed tucked away in the precious wrappings of love. Long distance in the spectral connections. Bravo....................

Yep. True. You are welcome...:)............................
I got the same thing Jacob did like a long distance relationship
looks like what the 2 lovers also did remember each other
for the things they did and the romantic settings like the Moonlight night
and still them remaining in their
hearts But just a Memory.

Nice work Well played.

A very personal piece...your word choices make it sing with an ethereal charm. The concept of a long distance relationship and love that cannot be is classic, your treatment of the subject is brilliant. Well written and enjoyable. Thank you for a fantastic read.

Excellent piece, BOS. It's not because I really like the concept but the structure is just apt for the beautiful lines you crafted.
Indeed, when two hearts beat as one, even in a distance, there will only be one moon for them...
Impressive!

i like this Anne...reminds me of my relationship...long distance, but often we talk about looking up at the moon to feel a certain closeness, knowing it is the same moon for both of us...and that even with the distance we are two stars in the same sky....sharing love.
