Bears Among UsA Poem by Bright Ocean Starjust something I was thinking aboutBears Among Us ____________________________________________ Foul Moods of darkest night There is no cure to lift the light Time must ponder, trudge, and plunder Ever through the molasses of thunder Enter deepest caves of flameless mind Close the door and leave behind Mornings sun rises tides Lights the earth and heals the hide Bears come unbidden from the depths Of caves’ cold, moist, dampened breath Attracted by the warmth and light That harbors deep in the heart of sight Keep the faith and don’t transmit Don’t allow the darkness a fit Armor plating, reflecting plates Bounce the mood back to the starting gate Bears a growl, bears a snear Bears are bears forever dear Watch the claws duck the swipes Laugh silently at his attempt to fight Bide the time, forgive the temper Watch the eyes and give him shelter From the storm of an internal kilter Until such time as the bear is no longer Bright Ocean Star; April, 2014 © 2014 Bright Ocean StarAuthor's Note
