Chapter 8

"Why do I have to go?" I complained.  We were driving through a heavy snow storm up to Traverse City.

"Because it's Christmas, and everyone in my family wants to meet you if they havn't already, and they'll be your family too in a few months."

"You know I hate Christmas, and snow."

"You should love snow, it's what brought us together."

"No a wet floor brought us together."

"Wet from snow."

"It was just mopped.  I hated Christmas.  I never got to celebrate it growing up, so I never got to appreciate it.  I just was annoyed by how merry everyone was and all the annoying commercials advertising parents to go buy their kids things they don't need.

When we pulled into Matt's mom's driveway, I saw Aaron with an evil smile on his face.

"Hit me with one snowball, and you die." I threatened.

"Oo, evil.  Besides, you would beat my a*s."  he replied.  Aaron looked exactly like Matt, tan skin, blue eyes, black hair, the only difference was Aaron was shorter, but still taller than me.  Matt was around 6'3, Aaron was 6'1, and I stood at a tiny 5'7.  Even though they looked exactly alike, you could tell them apart.  Matt was more muscular and Aaron's face was slightly rounder.

"Who ordered shrimp?" Matt asked when he got out of the car.

"I'm not that short!" Aaron yelled.  Matt looked away and when he did, Aaron hurdeled a large snowball and hit Matt right in the chest.

"You die boy."  Aaron darted through the five-foot-deep snow, but was not fast enough to get away from Matt, whos lightning quick speed caught Aaron in less than a second.  I laughed as Matt started burying Aaron in the snow.

"Play nice boys." I whispered.  I lost where Matt had gone and saw Aaron standing in front of me.

"Where's Matt?" I asked.  Aaron drew another evil smile and I turned around to see Matt standing no more than an inch behind me.  I yelped as he pulled me down in the snow.  Matt rolled me around in the freezing cold snow as Aaron helped. "Matt stop, that isn't funny!" I yelled.

While Matt and Aaron continued their childish games outside, I went inside to warm up and to see if there was anyone I know, like Anglea, well obviously she would be there, it's her house.  I found her in the large red and white living room sitting by the stone fireplace.

"Hi Faye!" she stood up from the couch and gave me a hug. "What happened to you?" she asked.

"Matt and Aaron found a way to utilize the snow.

"Oh, well boys will be boys." I sat down next to her by the fire; it felt so good that I didn't even want to get up.  My stomach growled at me as I inhaled the sent of food from the kitchen.  I got up and walked into the kitchen to get some food.  They had almost every type of food imaginable, chicken wings, ham, cheesy potatoes, polish sausage, sloppy Joe's, turkey, breaded shrimp, pumpkin pie, Spanish rice, apple pie, and a dessert that had a vanilla cream in the center.  They even had the cake that Matt and I had on the night he proposed to me.  I sat back down on the couch next to Angela and saw Matt and Aaron still fighting in the snow.

Matt and Aaron finally came back inside, chilled to the bone.  I was working on my second plate of food when Matt came and sat on top of me.

"You're all wet!" I complained.

"I don't want to ruin the couch, and sitting on my mother would just be mean."

"And sitting on your fiancee is any different?" Matt stood up and walked back outside.  I looked out the window and saw they had started playing basketball.

Anglea and I were talking while Matt and Aaron still played basketball.

"Has Aaron ever been jealous of Matt's powers?"

"If he is, then he doesn' show it."

"Oh, did they fight like that growing up?"

"Oh yes! You should've seen them growing up! Even before Aaron was a week old they fought!" I laughed when she said that, I can picture two-year-old Matt fighting with little baby Aaron.

"I wish I had a sibling, it's kind of boring when it's just you."

"Yeah, I'm sure your mom and dad would've given you a little sibling if they both were still alive."

"Yeah,"

"Oh well, I'm really glad Matt has you, you really are a great person."

"It's hard to make myself believe that sometimes."

"Now, why?"

"Because I'm a Villain and I hurt and kill many people almost every day."

"That's no reason to be upset with yourself, you have many more positives than negatives."

"More like vise versa."

"No. You are a beautiful woman, you're going to marry the man you love, you're very talented, kind, helpful, and careing, so what if you have evil in you, everyone does! Look at Matt, he's a hero and he's picking on his brother 24/7." the only time Matt is really evil is when he's joking around.

"You're just saying all that to make me feel better."

"No, it's all true."

"Sometimes I wish I didn't have these powers, and that I never became a Villain."

"There's something I've been wondering, why do you hate Christmas so much? You get to spend time with the people that you love and show everyone how much you love and care about them.  I bet your dad was even nice on Christmas."

"I don't know, I just think it's all stupid, people getting things they don't really need, it just doesn't seem like much fun."

"Matt gave you that necklace for Christmas; do you think that's stupid?" I looked down at the necklace Matt had given me this morning.  It was small and had three silver rhinestone cicles, engraved on the back was "I'll love you forever."

"No, but I really didn't need it."

"Matt wanted to show how much he loves you, that's one of the main reasons of Christmas, showing everyone how much you love each other." My hand slid up to the necklace.  My thumb ran over the engraved words on the back. "You love Matt don't you?"

"Very much."

"Well that's one reason to celebrate, sharing your love, then when you start a family you can show them you love them too."  I heard the door open and Matt walked in.  When he removed his coat snow fell to his feet.  Matt took off his shoes and walked over towards me.

"Sit on me and you die." I said.

"Sorry!" Matt set himself down on the carpet and started staring at me.

"What!" I asked, with annoyance in my voice.

"Nothing! Calm down!"

"Matt you can sit on the couch you know," Anglea said, smiling at me.

"I don't want to ruin it!"

"You and Aaron tortured it enough growing up, I don't think wet clothes will hurt it." Matt moved up onto the seat next to me.  He put his arm around me and I set my head on his cold, wet shoulder.

"That fire feels really good." Matt said

"It needs some more wood, would you go get some, Matt?"

"I'll go." I volunteered, standing up

"I'll go with you."

While we were outside, I felt dizzy and sick.

"Are you alright, Faye?" Matt asked as we started heading back out towards the door.

"I'm fine." No I wasn't. I felt like I was going to burst.

"You don't look okay."

"I just don't feel good, can we go home?"

"Sure."

We took the logs in and said good-bye.  I rested my head against the window and tried to sleep, but the bumpy road and roaring wind outside didn't help.

"You alright, Faye?" Matt asked as we stopped at a red light.

"I'm just really tired."

"How 'bout you try and get some sleep when we get home, or you could climb in the back and lay down."

"Okay." Matt stopped at the next gas station and let me climb into the back.  I rolled the sweatshirt he had in the back into a ball so I could have some sort of pillow.  I closed my eyes as the car shifted in movement as we headed back home.

"Faye, wake up, we're home." I felt cold air rush by my feet as I lifted my head from my pillow.  I didn't rememer falling asleep.

"When did I fall asleep?"

"I don't know, but I stopped in Saginaw, and you were out then."  I got out of the car to find myself extreamly lightheaded.  I still flet horrible and wanted to go back to bed.  "For as light of a sleeper as you are Faye, you slept pretty sound." I was probably the lightest sleeper in the world.  Any movement or noise woke me up.  Matt on the other hand could sleep through an Earthquake, at least he doesn't snore.
