Chapter 5

"What did you do Mallico?" Everyone's eyes turned away from Mallico and to me.

"What are you talking about ?" he asked, trying to sound as innocent as possible.

"You know what you did, you raided Matt's house and tore apart everything just to find out secrets I might be keeping!" I yelled.

"So what if I did, I have the freedom to do that!" The heads in the room whiped back and forth to Mallico and me.

"You just can't go through people's homes, there's a thing called personal space!"

"I don't give a damn about personal space!  It's what they deserve for all the things they've done to me and the Villains!"

"What have they done to you? You've never been arrested, you've never been taken down by the police, you've never even fought against Maverick or any hero, only the ones you pay to kill get stuck in fights, the only time I've seen you get off your lazy a*s and fight is when you saved me that one time!"

"Maybe I shouldn't have saved you!" he screamed, jumping onto the large table.

"I wouldn't have been killed anyway, Heroes can't kill."

"Sit down, Faye,"

"No,"

"Sit down, and listen to the rest of the meeting. Now."

"Now, I'm not going to listen to you anymore," I had finally gotten the courage to do what I have wanted to do my entire life. "I'm done, finished, I'm never coming bacdk, I'm tired of being evil." with that last statement, I ripped my Villain Flag off of my arm, threw it on the ground, and stormed out the door. "Don't expect a warm welcome back!" that was the last thing I heard Mallico say.  He thinks I'm coming back, well I'm never coming back.

I walked down the road towards Hero Nation.  As I walked towards the door, the guards grabbed me.  "I just want to see Maverick!" I yelled

"We are not letting you out of our sight." They pulled me through the main door and up to the meeting room.  All eyes turned from Matt, who was sitting in the large white chair, to me.  "What do you want?" he asked.  I could tell he was trying not to show that we knew each other.

"I want to join Hero Nation, I want to be good." Matt looked down at the floor.  He was muttering to himself but I couldn't understand what he was saying. "Can we trust you?"

"Yes, you can trust me." all the Heroes looked at Matt, who now had his head resting in his hands.

"No, I'm sorry, get out." my mouth dropped open when he said that.  How could he say he doesn't trust me, again!

"Please," I whispered, "Give me a chance."

"Get. Out. Leave, and never come back." The guards dropped me and pushed me out the door.  I slowly walked down the stairs and out into the streets.  When I was about half way back to Detroit, someone grabbed my arms and held them behind my back; the police.  I wasn't even going to try fighting them, this is what I wanted them to do to me, I want them to do their worst.

My cell was empty.  No light, no friendliness, no nothing.  As I looked around at the other cells I reconized some of the bones of fallen Villains.  Tarantula, Storm, Volt, and soon, me.  I heard a thud on the floor.  I didn't even bother to see who it was, I didn't care.  "Will you look at me?" It was Matt.  What did he want? Why was he here?

"What do you want?" When I asked him I didn't look at him.  I turned my body towards the wall so he wouldn't see any part of me.  "I want to get you out of here.  Please, I can't have my girlfriend in jail." Matt begged, reaching a hand through bars to touch me.  "What if I want to stay in jai," I protested, shrugging away from his hand.

"Faye please, you don't want to stay in here." I turned around and looked at him.  He had a large red mark on his left cheek.

"What happened?"

"I smacked myself.  I really needed to hit something after you left."

"Gee thanks." He knelt down on the ground so he could look me in the eye. "Why wouldn't you let me join?"

"Because, if I did, the Heroes might suspect something was going on between us, and that would drive Katie crazy, and I think it would make the Heroes an even larger target than they already are." I pressed my lips together and nodded my head in understanding.

"You do know they're going to kill you right?" he asked, not taking his eyes off me.

"Yes, I want to be dead, it will make millions happy."

"But one heartbroken.  Do you want me to be heartbroken for the rest of my life?" He cupped his hand around my jaw.  A single tear rolled out of my eye and onto his fingertips. "No, fine get me out if you want." Matt stood up and pushed the bars so there was enough room for me to walk through.  I didn't want to be saved, I didn't want to be seen anymore, but I didn't want to hurt Matt.

"I hope you know you're sleeping on the couch tonight, Matt."

"You won't be saying that later!"
