Because I Am A Girl

Yeah...I'm not a girl! XPP

  Because I am a girl

  I have to sit at

  home while my

  husband goes

  to war.

  Because I am a girl

  I have to take off

  my clothes to get

  payed and sell

  my body to people

  I don't know. 

  Because I am a girl

  I have to stand and

  act like I don't

  care when the

  one I love destroys

  himself with drugs.

  Because I am a girl

  no one cares about me

  and no one wants to.

  Because I am a girl

  I don't need emotions.

  Because I am a girl

  I don't have equal rights.

Sad enough, this is true. It is the way society works.
Kind of like if everyone walked around naked. If we had seen it our whole lives, it would be normal to us.

A good emotion and message is being expressed in this piece. Due to gender and stereotyping, us women can't do certain things that men can...and we have to also do certain things that men don't have to do...(like taking our clothes off to get money). Us women have to make ourselves vulnerable and risk our lives to get certain things or even to get equal rights. Very good job with this piece...this takes me back to remeembering when we learned about women's rights and what a struggle it was to get them.

Love the concept, having the reasons for being a girl in the world...

I'd like to see this go a bit deeper and it really can.... Menstrual cycles, female circumcision, giving birth, being raped, being thrown in the garbage can because you are born in China, more likely to be molested, having to be "pretty" or "poised".

I am just saying... maybe you can have a version 2
