A Beautiful Death

A Beautiful Death

A Poem by lashane cooray

A clash of steel on steel,

The flight of an arrow, barbed with death,

A cry of a man, as broadsword pierces flesh,

All the glorious drama, of a Spartan battle to the end!

‘Blood and Gore’, the saga continues,

Repeated through the ages,

As steady as the change of Seasons,

As cold as the frost of a winter past.

Through the carnage, one would rise,

Whose wisdom surpasses, the test of time,

Glorious and honourable, a beautiful death truly is,

But all the more righteous, would precious Life forever be!

No matter the wars we fight on the battlefield or in our every day, as long as one can be reminded by your poem that life is precious, hope for humanity will remain. Really enjoy reading your poems.
