I'm No Superman

I'm No Superman

A Poem by Ashton

He does not wear a single cape

Nor have any special powers

Yet he carries our American Flag

And allows salutes it with honors.

Every night before he sleeps

Or before he goes to battle

He prays the Lord watch over his family

Just in case the end is near

And did not receive victory.

He cannot fly without a plane

Nor stop speeding bullets with a  pinch

But he can drop down out of trees

And take a bullet for a man

Who doesn’t even know him.

His super strength comes from one

And that is his almighty God

And if the jobs finishes early

He’ll be accepted with a nod.

Who is this man?

He is no Superman.

He is a Soldier of the United States of America

And he is doing his job

Just like everyone else should do theirs.
