Battle Scars

Battle Scars

A Poem by Ashton

My wounds aren’t from combat

Nor are they from lolly gagging around.

They aren’t from friends playing around

Neither are they accidents.

I don’t go around

Flashing them to everyone.

I hide them from judgement.

Additional hurt.

I don’t ask for the attention

And I don’t want it either.

If I had a choice

I’d change my mind set.

Be happy.

Be me.

But these train track patterns are here to stay

And tell me how weak I was.

How weak I am.

How I will most likely be weak the rest of my life.

So don’t judge me

Cause I don’t want more hurt it will cause.

Just leave me be.
