There Goes Their Hero

There Goes Their Hero

A Poem by Ashton

Single mother of only thirty-two,

she lost her husband and now barely making it through.

When that newscaster came on,

her heart felt heavy and knew he was gone.

The musky grey smoke filled the sky,

just after two planes dropped in high.

She looked out the window towards his building,

only to see if coming down and falling.

She ran into the streets towards the crash,

only to find everything and everyone covered in ash.

Today she returns to Ground Zero,

her and her baby girl both dreaming of their hero.

For you never know if another one will be coming,

so make sure you give ones you love all your loving.

It may be the last time you will have the chance.
