Renewal

Renewal

A Poem by Chebem Ike

I dust my self off this dusts
And bath in the pool of ever flowing goodness
And free myself of the clinging mud of mediocrity
I dry myself in the sun of ever radiant rays of hope

I shed this old suffocating air of selfishness
And breath this new refreshing air of selflessness
I put on a cloth of power
And walk on beautiful boulevards
Bearer of brighter future, for one and for all

I walk and touch blossoming flowers of sprouting hopes
And plant trees of newness and plant seed of change
My trees grow spreading their branches for all and sundry
To comfort and to care

My trees grow fruits
I put them on several basket of friends
Under the umbrella of peace and oness

My soul glows from within
From a fire kindled by love a fire that flows
Like a river, violent and meek, purity and calm
This fire burns the odds and shows the way of love

And sweet melody exude from the flaming hearts around
Obfusicating formal cries of woe within and without
This melody is a song of the free

We sing for we are free
Free from self and enshrouded in communion
A communion of the renewed
