The beautiful

The beautiful

A Poem by Chebem Ike

The beautiful are wonderful
The inexplicable wonder of the ordinary
To some hidden, like a ripe corn from a novice
To others nothing ever so glaring

These beauty I here speak
Are not found in a woman's look
As in her manner

Not so much in the superfluous words of an orator
Than in the calm penetrating voice of the preacher

Not in the gusty whirling wind
As in the gentle caressing breeze

More in the glorious risen sun
Than in the blazing sun at noon

More in the disarming innocence of a child
Than in the supercilious wit and wisdom of the adult

These things I here speak of
Are great treasures: not like gold, not like silver
But are to the soul which is able to fathom them
A glimpse of a glorious mystery

Guy! This poem is good. Where true beauty is found is where there is much negligance, likethe innocence of a child, the unassuming poetry of a great verse, and inner virtue of an undefile maiden. I must confess, bro, you've really written something worthwhile with this one. Your first stanze struck me most. Well articulatd.
