Grandma

Grandma

A Poem by Chebem Ike
"

The old have a lot to say! I love my grandma. She wants to pass across 1 lesson you end up sitting for hours and getting 20 points. interesting is that her complexity is at par with her profundity.

"
Wakes up in the morning and asks
" Son have you said your prayers"
I have retorts the son
I have

In the afternoon "son" she says
" Did you bathe today?"
I did retorts the son
I did

At night as she reclines on the chair she asks
" Son did you eat at all today?"
I ate retorts the son
I ate

Such were grandma's day with her grandson
Is she not caring?
Yet grandson thinks she is too caring
And his young mind welcomes it not

Your poem speaks out to a very wide audience. This is the typical relationship between most grandmothers and their grandchildren. The grandchild fails to appreciate how much their grandmother cares for them, simply treating their conversational exchanges as mundane, repetitive, and boring. It is likely that they will not appreciate how much she cares until it is too late. Great poem, made me think.

Its amazing that in this part of the world where we don't necessarily have to cloud our loved ones with the cliche " I love you" , we feel and show it more- Love
