OLA (My Gold)

OLA (My Gold)

A Poem by Chebem Ike
"

For Lucy: the only one I love , the lady in whom I am well pleased- my best friend and more- whose warmth can cure more patients than any doctor could with the best drugs.

"
This few days with you were fantastic
And fantasies of you, your gaiety and love- some mien
Surely shall stick, in my hearts of heart
To be remembered and cherished

I am feeling this way and speechless too
So my heart I lend to my pen
That it may pour forth in words and inks
This rivulets of mingled expressions in my heart entombed

I shall miss your company sweet and sunny
The inherent beauty you radiate and relate
Its like saying farewell to the end of beauteous days
But this, for good, I shall bear

Our hearts beat to this rhythm
Though unsung by our lips for lack of expression
Of this feeling stirring up, deep and within
This sweet and rare innocence of what we share
Shall I invoke, when provoked, to caress my spirit
And free it from trouble
And I bid you to do the same
To remember in your trials and days of worry
That here I am, always for you

Pellucid precious peerless priceless pearl
My dearest, as you leave to return to me
Which I pray be sooner than later
Carry in your departing head and heart
This greenest of love we share

I love you so much, I do
And this fire in me enkindled shall burn, brightly,
Lovely and pure and I shall keep it
Sure !
