Once upon a time

Once upon a time

A Poem by Chebem Ike

There came a time when the world was in turmoil
Ravaged by the devil's spoil
Then came the need for a redeemer
To free the world from the deceiver
Then arose a debate in the highest heaven
To free the son's of men from this raven
To set the hearts of men at right
To make their faces once more bright

Then the floor was open
The son took it upon as a token
To die for man so sinful
Through a way so painful
Down to earth he came, through a virgin
How the son's of men treated him you can imagine
Rejection and ridicule was his lot
He who our salvation wrought

But through all these, still, for our sake
He carried his cross to the stake
By his death we were restored
To loving relationship with God, of old installed
Yet o! Man, this relationship thou has scorned
Making thy saviors suffering thus absurd
But the story ends here not
Shall end when he comes again in power and might-
