Don't Ruin Your Grave

Don't Ruin Your Grave

A Poem by Lana

Don't ruin your grave by wiping away fears.
Baptize your fear
tear it apart and take its tears
Peel away the paper pinned on the wall among your peers
the one that says, "Wait for the day you could begin."

Today is now.
The future is not always found.
Don't ruin your grave by wiping away fears.

Drown in baptized water of tears,
and the salty water will feel like a rush of adrenaline.

Lollipops made of tears
love is sweat and tears and fear,
recycled into blessings that come in shadows and light,
just like everything.

But don't ruin your grave by wiping away the small fingerprints.
Inhabit the dirty feeling of being human,
part of a scary world that sometimes descends into drunken, evil cocktail gin.

And just do as you were told
by a higher being who knows better
than to cry and wait and take the path of disguise.

Don't ruin your grave.
You can sigh, you can cry,
but you cannot wait for the path ahead.
