The Health Kit / The Dreamer's Dream

The Health Kit / The Dreamer's Dream

A Poem by Lana

To dare to dream is a difficult thing
To dare to dream is a beautiful thing
But it does require some kind of thing
A switch
A lock and key
Maybe covered in honey
Maybe in cinnamon with tea

But when you just can't touch the wind
You have to play with it
In winter especially
When it gets dark and somber
You get in your little tent full of things
And start to wonder why you've wandered through life
It is the light that scares you not the dark
And you know that
But there's a kind of sin
The dreamer that cannot dream
You know what I'm on about

You sit
And you twirl when it rains and feel the cold drops touch your veins
And you write and read about times when people in the past have dared to dream
And dreaming they did
But with a whole other belief

Sandy coats of tar on a reservoir dream
To dream Dream you with your whole might
Where once there were butchered affirmations
They transform into a health kit
In it it contained everything they needed to succeed
A good mind full of good things
A heart full of dreams
And a soul that dares to see what they can't see
Oh to be a blind man searching for a glimpse of mint in an oasis
