Gold

Gold

A Poem by Lana

is my life worth living if I'm not giving?
I want all the diamonds in the world
but you can't make diamonds without creating a mess
I wish we all lived life the way we were supposed to
laughing, dreaming and swimming in the most beautiful beaches in the world
and everyone created equal
instead some get sick and fall off bridges while I lay down in a field of lavender
and no roses around me ever had thorns
I've only been bitten by this awful song
that plays in every home
our bodies tarnish like rusted gold
we are not pure but have no currency
we are temporary
and the coins come in different shape
some large some small
and ultimately they are left to rot somewhere on the shore of a broken land
is my life worth living if I'm not giving?
I want to make every light shine like it was supposed to
to clean the jewels that have never ever been given any thought
just to rinse it off with aluminum foil
and make it shiny again
restore all of its pain
is my life worth living if I'm not giving away my wealth?
