I Don't Get Invited

I Don't Get Invited

A Poem by Lana

I think my heart beats fast
Because I haven't been hugged in a while
And I think I blink too much
Because I haven't seen the light in a while
I think my lungs are starting to burn
Because I haven't breathed real air in a while
I think my aunt told me once
That my eyes looked like the dark
Like the light that once illuminated my inner world
Was now gone
I think I walk fast
Because I haven't been invited anywhere in a while
It was only Christmas
And I was dancing alone in my room
I've worked with people but alone
In my room
And so, I didn't get invited to their rooms
I think I haven't opened my mouth
Because I haven't been talked to in a while
But even if I was
I'm not sure I have much to say
I'm only a stranger
Coming on Earth to say
Hey!
I've been invited by an entity
Bigger than me
And I got no idea
Why
I just know
My heart beats so fast
Because I haven't been hugged in a while
