Same place

Same place

A Poem by Lana

We all headed to the same place
Living in the same orb
Watching us as we pray
Or we prey for our lives
To be gay
To be alive
To breathe but then die
It watches us as we cry
As we jump off the sky
And demand a better pay
Life feels too expensive sometimes
So you keep your ticket
For a refund, free of charge
But it doesn't care
The giant orb swallows it all
Until we meet again
We headed to the same place anyway
My friend
I'll see you when the sun sets

I really liked this poem, it had a lot of emotion attached to it. The nod to death with the line "were all heading to the same place" gives comfort but also and uneasy feeling, because we all face it someday. My favorite line though is "life feels too expensive sometimes." It has different meanings, like its not just about money, but also happiness. Life can costs us a lot more than we realize. Great poem Sarah.
