Wings

Wings

A Poem by Lana

I walked the dirty streets
Of the town I live
And I kept seeing
What seemed to be
Lottery tickets
On the floor scattered
Sometimes flying to the sky
As the lightning struck
And when I looked up
I saw a very cold and tall iron steel building
With people jumping off it
And I tried to think
Of a reason why they could be in such a hurry
To fly like a bird who was stuck in a cage for years on end
But then it struck me
They tried to catch a dream
And with all their might
They could win
If only they had wings
