A screw

A screw

A Poem by Lana

The bubble cannot sustain itself
It is fragile and a rebel
The rubbles of what was once a wall
Separating the gold from the debt
And the somber dull indulgence
Of actors playing a part
For the camera snapshot
Until the curtains drop
There was no Gulf war
The spectacle society
In its supreme authority
And golden statute of superiority
Is the hypereality of a few with money
The pageant was bloody
The war in Ukraine crept in
There was not supposed to be war
There was no Gulf war
There cannot be any implemented law
Where someone crosses it and ignores
The hyperreality of a few with money
Where blood does not exist
You should mask up
Cover your eyes of the horrors of the world
You are the golden statue
When immigrants arrive they see you standing loud and proud
The image of a star
The beauty of a jeweled crown
And now you are who you are
Golden brown
Eroded by life's cruelest's wound
That there is war
And you are as insignificant
As a random metal screw
Floating in our neglected sea
