My Happiness Holds By A Thread

My Happiness Holds By A Thread

A Poem by Lana

My happiness holds by a thread
It's a fragile string made
Of 100% pure cotton
Longing to be sewed with a button
Dying to be made of silk
But it is too expensive
My thread has no stretch
People say it's only meant to make necklaces
Sold for only 1 buck on Ebay
But no one buys it
My happiness holds by a fragile thread
Longing to be a summer dress
Waiting for the perfect seamstress
And as it waits and waits for days
The hope keeps it from breaking
The needle envelops me
And I jump out of it
I don't know if I'll be good enough for the machine
People tell me my thread is too big
I have no purpose for anything
I want the seamstress to tell me
That I am meant for sewing
And therefore I should never be thinking
"Don't think, don't think, you are only a thread!"
She exclamed.
"A thread will always break"
"....that is why you are 150 yards"
I want to break down and cry
"You break or I cut you.."
"Either way, I always have more of you"
She adds "You are so bizarre"
I ask her why
"There are no perfect threads..."
"...Only good seamstresses"
I've never thought about it
