The Whirlwind of Illusions

The Whirlwind of Illusions

A Poem by Lana

you get lost in a whirlwind every once in a while
and then you build some wings for the 100th time
because there's the new iphone 8
and you've seen this new movie that you're starting to get obsessed about
googling it
get your mind off of the vortex
sometimes you watch other people live
not in a creepy way
a certain thing about being the observer and not the observed
makes you feel less of a human
and you like that
it is like being an entity detached from the human condition
that is, God, so painful sometimes;
you indulge in pop corn
hot dogs and soda
you love different tastes in your mouth
you love how good it feels to experience pleasure and nothing else
it's been so long since you've felt something as simple
you usually feel the most undescribable feelings
a meteorite bound to fall somewhere
a mix between deadly weather and lightning strike;
there's always something shiny
that makes your eyes sparkly
even if it's just the reflection of the light
even if it's just an illusion;

I like in the speaker talking about another; give a feel of being removed. As if you're a bystander. The phrase" not in a creepy way' made me smile. After the last line I thought; " damn that's deep"
