Rumors are right

Rumors are right

A Poem by Lana

The rumor is right
I died last year
I was put in a comma in the middle of the street
It was close to midnight, a street light flickered out of existence and so was I
Nobody caught me
No one will catch you when you fall
The gaunt-faced monster waits for us all, at some point in our lives
It is about whether you have the courage to kill it or not
Even if you do, life has a tendency to send poisonous flowers your way
Snakes disguised as rabbits,
You'll never know when you fall, and you'll never know when you die
But if you look back on it, you see how the dots somehow all connected perfectly
You are supposed to fall
You are supposed to die
Your downfalls are sewed and stitched perfectly
Piece by piece
Snip by snip
So what was once bland clothing, becomes designer
The last thing I saw when I died were seraphic white flakes
I watched as they multiplied and rested on my face
I knew, in that moment, things would be different
That I'd see things differently
That I'd be transported in another realm against my will
All I can see is the darkness
And all I can hear is a muffled sound
But what I feel is different
My soul is being divided in two
In three, then four
I don't know who I am anymore
But I think piece by piece
Snip by snip
What was once a frail disregarded spirit
Will become a strong soul
