Chapter 3 - Take Everything You NeedA Chapter by lanistarrDawn meets the people who were behind the mirror. There was an unnerving silence from behind the mirror before I finally heard the sound of heels clicking against the tile. The door to my room opened and I jerked my head to the left to see the woman. She was tall, even without the heels she must have been around five feet ten inches, with short blonde hair ending just below her ears. With her rail thin structure she looked more like a cartooned style mad scientist than a person in power. She reached a hand into her white lab coat pocket, pulled out a small cloth and began cleaning her glasses.
"So, you could hear everything we said, hmm? No bother I suppose. We'll just have to have those so-called sound proof walls reinforced." Setting her round glasses back on her face, she stepped towards me. Her gaze drifted to the leather straps I had been trying to break free from. She scoffed which led me to believe she was annoyed with my attempt. Pressing a button embedded into the wall, she released me from my restraints. I tried to stand but the woman shoved me back onto my prison of a bed. Carefully, she removed the IV and put a small cotton bandage in its place. My eyes caught her badge informing me her name was Annabelle Zutan. The man finally entered the room, clutching hard to the clipboard, and approached Annabelle. He was short compared to her with cleanly cut blonde hair and looked more like a teenager than the man I had made him out to be when I heard him speak. Though his appearance showed him to be quite strong, he acted weak here maybe in respect to the power this Annabelle exuded. "Miss Zutan, should we put her through treatment again? Try to -" he was cut off by Annabelle.
"No. And do watch what you say we wouldn't want more things to be undone now would we?" His face flushed with embarrassment while he changed his focus to the clipboard.
"Patient 2-3-6, what do you remember?" The man's voice was lower than what would fit for his personality.
"Patient 2-3-6?" I gave him a cocky smile which he scribbled down on the board. "My name is Dawn. I remember being chased by a person who I can't recall the look of at all. I remember being saved by Valor, who you apparently are keeping captive. That's the extent of it...for now." His eyes met mine on the last two words and they were filled with fear and possibly a hint of pain. Annabelle faced the door and left. The boy followed her like a tail. He stopped in the doorway. "My name is Avid, by the way. We'll be seeing a lot of each other." The pain I thought I’d seen in his eyes was most definitely in that last sentence. The door shut and I was left alone, unrestrained, with my nonexistent memories. © 2013 lanistarrAuthor's Note
