Chapter 2 - Sell Your MemoriesA Chapter by lanistarrThe girl begins to retrieve some of her memories giving her an insight to her situation.Valor.
Valor. The word was coursing through my brain despite being groggy from the
drugs. What the point of this word? Why did I say it? Valor is courage. "Sure,
that I remember." I muttered to myself. So what I wanted to be courageous
while I was getting drugged? That doesn’t add up. Then again none of this made
any sense. Sighing, I closed my eyes and wished for something, any part of
this, to make sense. “Well
what do you have to say about this?” The woman questioned furiously. "Her
memories were gone," a man spoke this time, "she shouldn't remember
him." He seemed scared as if this was his own personal mistake. "Valor is a him?" I wondered aloud. A quick scene popped into my mind of a boy not much older than me with hair as black as coal and eyes to match. He approached my foe from behind, placed his hand over their neck and rendered them unconsciousness.
"Valor," I whispered. He grabbed my wrist and we ran. His leg swooped out from under him as if he had tripped but nothing was there.
“Go!
I can handle myself!” He shouted at me. I turned and ran as fast I could until
I blinked and came to find myself, once again facing the mirror. I started to
fiddle with the leather straps keeping my hands bound the bed. Whatever I
needed to figure out, all my memories, it wasn’t going to happen here. The
straps were around two loops that attached to a mechanical lock. Maybe I could
work the leather off the loops and get out that way. As I was about to put my
plan into action the voices from the other side of the mirror distracted me
again. "We'll
just have to do some tests. See how much she really knows." The woman presented
her idea with the authority I was beginning to expect from her. "Until
then, keep Valor locked up tight. If he so much as whispers Dawn's name he goes
through treatment again, you hear me?" "I suppose that makes me Dawn." I responded hoping they'd hear me. The sound of a clipboard dropping ensured me they did. © 2013 lanistarrAuthor's Note
