Marionette

Marionette

A Poem by Elaine

She's trapped

by tightened strings

commanded to do;

to dance, to sing

No freedom of her own

her heart screams

as her puppetmaster charades

all she does is dream

little by little

finding strength in herself

she slowly but surely

climbs down from her shelf

her strings sever

she's in control

sadness evaporates

she's hers to console.
