don't throw words on paper

don't throw words on paper

A Poem by Elaine

If you were to write

Words on a page

Would they be from happiness?

Or pieces of your rage,

Would you understand

What you had written

Or be confused

As if you had been bitten,

When you write

Let emotion flow

Don’t throw words on paper

And pretend to know.

So true. Poetry is not just a string of high sounding words that by chance rhyme. It is about expressing yourself in way that will stir the emotions. Even if no one else gets what you're saying, you'll know, and you'll remember those feelings ever time you read it.

great job. i think people think of them selves as writers if they write one peom and then suddenly they are a brilliant writer

This is very true..

People call themselves writers by just making sentences rhyme or by just saying i'm a poet but they don't get it...To be a writer there has to be emotion and soul into the piece not just putting words on a page.

I love this :)
