Timeless

Timeless

A Poem by Lady Shade

Timeless

My memory of you

Your tentative smile

The patient shrug of your shoulders

Your eyes

Mirrored vividly in every dream

I hear your laughter

Whenever I hear a joke

Perhaps you’d find amusing

And I smile

Regardless of circumstance

Or company

I close my eyes

Night and tomorrow’s itinerary begging my collapse

My pillow swallows me, all but one eye

Wandering to the clock

I search numbers

Not caring for the time

Except for the minutes I count

Until I am in your arms

I can feel your arm

Slide around me

Warm

Safe

Comforting with that decadent undercurrent

Of arousal and seduction

I ignite and blush

And hope you do not notice my shyness

Even now my heart quickens

In memory

Feeling your hand

Slide like butterfly wings along my hip

Trembling just enough

To remind me you are flesh

And not my imagination

So in love I fall prey to laughter

A silly giddiness reminiscent of Junior High School crushes

Passing notes and BFFs and promising eternity

After under-the-bleachers stolen kisses

But this is no giggle left untended

No kiss forgotten

A beginning with no end I wish to define

A love I carry with me, not pass away in a pocketed message
