Victorious

Victorious

A Poem by Lady Shade

Victorious

A single touch

Adrenaline

Seductive blend of find cognac and

The destructive wildfire that was lit by a careless ash

And burned hundreds of acres of forest

So smooth, so dangerous, so full of passion

That I can taste it like a shirt I burned while ironing on too hot of a setting,

Like paint that won’t quite dry on a humid afternoon,

Like a wet dog jumping on the couch.

He’s alive in my mouth,

Against my skin,

Commingling with my sweat,

Sliding alongside that decadent slope meeting my hip,

Caressing my calves and that ticklish spot at the back of my knee,

Trickling beneath my breasts,

Inhaled into my lungs with the power of the Plague.

I fall prey to him always,

Liquid from his heat,

Starving and rabid from his disease,

Struggling to breath as though through damaged silk,

Looking to him in innocence for salvation,

Desperately seeking for him to define me,

Make me whole,

Create me,

Love me,

Bring me to my salvation.

In truth, beneath reality, destroy me,

Drive me into the ground, but to feel whole

Beneath his thumb is all I seek.

Hungrily,

I prowl beneath his window,

Begging for scraps,

Howling for his impurities,

Desperate for the leftovers he tosses in the trash,

Pitches to me to keep me quiet as he indulges himself

In his night,

His fantasies,

His world,

So devoid of me.

The sun rises,

And one day,

So shall I,

Away from this shame,

This retribution for his sins shall end,

And I shall thrive

In a world full of survivors

And those whose eyes recognize abandonment

And strength, fear, anger, hunger

Life, liberty, power, passion, and

I will rise above fear to be more.

F**k you, I am so much more.

The reflection of you now pales in comparison.

On your knees now, you shall beg

And I shall rise above

For my eyes have seen the truth

And the abusiveness parasite of your neglect

Has lost its Host

Victim, although a title that holds pain and stereotypes that wound,

Once conquered is merely an entry in a dictionary.

I love the “V's”….

When you sit there, lonely and empty, look up “Victorious” and think of me.

For I am.
