Of Choice

A Poem by Lanaia Lee
"

war

"

Everywhere I look I can see remnants of your ugly face
Death, destruction, devastation, all these can be attributed to you
What you cause, a lot of times it just can't be replaced
If you make yourself known, you are right in front of a person, plainly within one's view.

You alone are responsible, for the cries of orphaned children, the cries of those that have lost their spouse
You can cause devastation, leaving so many homeless, and it seems their cries only fall on deaf ears
In your wake, usually fire can be seen every where, and you make it too late for people the fire, to d****e
Knowing of your presence, within any one's soul to feel with intense, immense fear.

So many unjustly meet their end, and you are the culprit that makes it so
Famine, plague, just to name a few, also totally related to you
Nothing you have ever done could be considered friendship, as you are a much dreaded foe
Just to think of all the people, you can make sad and blue.

When it is known you are near, Listen! Quiet!, you too can hear the cries of those that have been touched
By you and only you, from you there is no known escape
You don't feel, you never eat, you never sleep, you only cause devastation and death, that is dreaded so very much
The land, the very planet itself, by you is only ravaged and raped.

You are known as war, but sadly you have a brother, that is a lot worse than you
He is something none of us wish to see
Only used when not another alternative, he brings death and devastation of biblical proportions, getting away, one's chance is very few
From you one cannot run, no where to hide, not many people from you ever flee.

Now you are synonymous for raping the land and air, long after you are gone
Radiation, your choice of dress, people hear your name and with fear they are numb
Mankind is ready to use nuclear devices, to make a point of the seeds, they have sewn
If ever leashed, will it be our end and demise. Listen to the people! Nuclear weapons, they are deadly and those that wish to use them, very stupid, and very dumb.
