Gold

A Poem by Lanaia Lee

from Of Atlantis

"

From Of Atlantis my five volume fantasy series, book one scheduled for release May 17th, my birthday

Feel the excitement and anticipation of a wedding in the air
A wedding not seen for centuries, an ancient wedding, from the days of old, a wedding of Atlantis
One would say this wedding is of a Pagan nature, but these wedding will occur without any cares
A wedding that died long ago when Atlantis was destroyed and went amiss.

On this very special day, two women, both daughters Of Atlantis, will be united in marriage, to the men they so dearly love
No one but the couple involved can really explain, what they feel within their hearts
Atlantis, in her time, the mightiest nation on Earth, a place where one's heart could be as free as a dove
Most ancient civilizations marriages were arranged, but not in Atlantis, here, love was involved, one could freely choose the one they loved, they were free to follow their hearts.

In a wedding of Atlantis, one concentrates on the happiness of a union that is yet to come
We never argue over a dowry, or how much can be made from someone's happiness
We feel a person and their heart is free, not held be held hostage from some sort of monetary sum
But free to be with the one you love, as together you embark on marital bliss.

Love is something we believe, in choosing one's partner, this is a critical factor
To spend a lifetime with just one person, if no love is involved, a person could feel like a hostage in life, and only death from a loveless marriage, is the only release, something from which one needs to deter
On the journey of life together, it is love that within one's soul stirs
When in a loveless marriage, in those days one would feel trapped, and there was no one with which they could confer.

So never from a beautiful Atlantis, did anyone have the right to choose another's fate
Just like blasphemy against the Supreme Being, this was also considered sacrilege
Holding a person's heart hostage, could force a person to end up in a pathetic state
So in our world, to a person you loved, marriage, would one make such a pledge.

So on this day an Atlantean wedding is scheduled to occur
One not seen or experienced since the ancient days of old
Two marriage, filled with love, as the two couples agree to matrimony to enter
True love lasts forever, the only thing worth it's weight in gold.

This has an interesting flow to it. Being a fellow Taurus, I had to check this out. My birthday's the eighteenth of May.
Since you stated this was 'scheduled for release May 17th', I'm wondering if this is an excerpt of your book in its final stage. If so, who is your publisher, who is your editor, because they need to be asked to edit this page again.
Examples: *but these wedding(s) will occur

Cool! What's your book about? I'm guessing it has something to do with this poem...Is the entire book written in prose poetry or just this exerpt? I'd like to read more. Every once in awhile a fantasy story hits me that I HAVE to check out, and normally I'm not a fantasy person. It would be awesome if you uploaded summaries of your books. I'd like to read them!

this is beautiful. i appreciate the "atlantean" philosophy of commitment and you expressed it so well. if the rest of this series is as well written, it should be a success. well done.
