Kiss of the Inevitable

Kiss of the Inevitable

A Poem by Lanaia Lee
"

kiss of death

"

If you listen carefully, you can hear the voices of those that so tragically died from long ago
Reaching out across space and time, hoping present mankind hears their pitiful pleas
They so unjustly died, from the black death, they had no place to run and hide, no protective place to go
They reach out to remind us to remember them because this is not how it was meant to be.

People from this time period had no way to logically understand what was happening to them
Literally dropping like flies, fighting something so small with the naked eye they could not see
Bacteria wasn't;t known about in these times, in that time everybody's future looked very dim
One third of Europe's population, would end up paying a tremendous fee.

They want to warn us, not to succumb to the same fate as they did
All the death, no one was immune, it included women, children, and men
Coming from a foreign sure, within the rats the disease hid
Making each presence known, by inviting one and all to death's gloomy den.

People didn't understand the disease, they thought the devil was at play
They had no science to explain this deathly, ungodly thing
In their world death would run rampant, each and every day
They surely knew the song of death, each day they had to sing.

In a time of religious turmoil, these people really had no idea what was going on
They thought that God was punishing them wondering what they had said or done
So many died, but one culprit by itself, it stood all alone
It would become known as the plague, the black death, so many by it's stinger, they were stung.

Those from long ago, want others to remember, so they don't fall prey, to the very same thing
But today there is chemical war fare to worry us, well at least those from long ago, they didn't have to worry about this
They want us to remember, knowing what the black death could very well bring
The souls lost crying out, they did not wish to die in vain, crying remember, because they wish no one with death to share a kiss.
