Love

Love

A Poem by Lana

I understand the need to stay away from love
People add onto you
And when they leave, you subtract more of you
Like the substance that made you you
Is now gone tenfold
And who wants to risk it all
For love that could be gone tomorrow
Leaving you running in the cold
Your hands red and raw
Kneeling down from the weakness in your bones
As you let yourself slip into a hole
All alone, all because of their doing
For loving you, but never eternally
Oh, I understand the need
To stay away from this disease
Love,
What you do to me
