Joy Injections

Joy Injections

A Poem by Lana

I'm going to inject joy into my veins
Sedate it in my brain
Renounce all the pain
And kneel down but never pray
I don't wish for it until death do us part
It always parts
The joy never sticks to my arm
Even when I bathe in the strongest glue
Only bees and ants crawl up on my skin
And die so suddenly
Death, pain, a depressing melody string
Rings in my ears
And whenever I hear it
I inject joy into my veins
And just close my eyes
Never praying
Just waiting and waiting
Until it hits
Sedates my brain
And I can feel a tiny bit of artificial rainbow fizzy candy joy again
So sweet, so sick, so plain
Once I suck all the sour crystal sugars
But it is there!
And it's modelled after the strongest folks
Who live on with a smile on their faces
Even against adversity
It just f*****g works
I think I'm happy again
I only have fifty more minutes
To be myself again

quick gratification never ends well, so I'm so glad this poem wasn't too short. I hope you always have longer term solutions to be yourself and find happiness. I loved this poem, it was absolutely brilliant.
