For Them

For Them

A Poem by Lana

And when I travel
I think of all the children and teens who have died a loud death
I think of the way I am still there
While some souls' pink ribbons were cut short
With the biggest scissor that had sproutted into existence
I think about it sometimes when I find myself too lazy for life
My heart beating fast yet living a quiet death
Wishing upon a star with pink strawberry drops falling from the sky
And it tastes so sweet yet so sour
I am so lucky, I think, sometimes
And yet I always see the darkness and the war from afar
So I think of all the children and teens who have died a loud death
And think of the way I still dance
And I must do it better
I must jump out of bed
And live a loud life
For them
