Purgatory

Purgatory

A Poem by Lana

This is the story of a religious soldier
When it gets stormy he becomes a real killer
But it is okay because He lives in a whirlwind of identities
He has a badge on his chest that says "Army"
After he loads up his gun he prays to God
But not for mercy as when it gets stormy
His heart bears no sin he knows the Lord taught him  gun safety
But he never practices what he preaches
Choir of people protest against his violent hands
Humanity's echo reminds me of his arsenal of love
But oh no, not today, not when it gets stormy, Lord
I am only a religious soldier
Who fights the fight until I get older
In a bubble of allies and enemies
I-am-a-father- to-be
You see, just like you Moses I see
The sea and I split it between
Me and the civils
The red cross will never come after me
I am just a religious soldier
Who died a good fight
Against enemies that were allies
And allies that were so angry
They started kneeling before me
Asking "Why did you make me?"
Yes, I am not dreaming
I might be the God I believed in
As God said
Let there be light
And let there be war
I was a flower unable to grow in concrete
I am too good to be punished
When I died, I died in ectasy
I will snort gun powder until my veins bleed
And then I will see you in purgatory
