My Writer's Cafe Virginity has been stolen from me!!

A Story by Chadious

I discovered this site when I decided I needed a place to hang out.  I love to write.  There is really no good avenue to let your creative juices flow so to speak.

Last night I found out how much I enjoyed writing a letter.  My grandparents wrote me a letter and sent it through the post office.  It was on flower stationery and it was written as though no one could really read it.  Some may consider writing a letter and using "snail mail" such an archaic form of communication.  Yet I found it quite refreshing.  Instead of using the increasingly impersonal method of email, I decided to sit down and write a letter back.

As I wrote I found myself thinking about what I wanted to tell my grandparents.  I found myself investing time into the thoughts I was about to put on paper.  I type an email and it's fast and easy and I don't even think about it the majority of the time.  I have taken for granted the fact that I can send a five minute email to someone and never have to chat with them on the phone or see them ever again.

I live in South Florida yet most of my friends are back home in Chicagoland.  Most of the time I go months without contacting anyone, and then it hits me.  "Why don't I just send them an email and let them all know that I am still alive?"  My thought processes stop and my hands and fingers take over.  Two minutes later I click the "Send" button and I don't think about it again.  My guilt disappears.  Now I don't have to worry about losing any friends because I have indeed maintained contact with my friends.  No more guilt.  My life can continue now.

You should try it sometime.  Hold a pen as if you were to write something, gather a blank sheet of paper, and try writing a letter to someone special.  Someone worthy of your attention.  You will need some thoughts and you will need some time to complete.  They will appreciate your letter, even though they will call you and let you know that he or she received your letter.

you've just inspired me to write to my exboyfriend in Central Florida--btw, what part of south florida do yo live in, i LOVED florida when i lived there--i'll probably do it tonight.
And you are write, it takes nothing for me to type something out to pretend I am actually thinking about someone, there's a complete disconnect, especially if you're like me and can type like, a life story in like five minutes. If my creative juices aren't flowing, then crap is simply falling from my fingertips...
cute little piece.

This reminds me of how my husband and I use to write letter while dating. Even though we live less than one hour away from each other. We have been married for 15 years and I still have every last one of those letter.
I don't have any of the text message ;)
