The Meadow

The Meadow

A Poem by Tai Ryens

I prance this meadow;

The oh so beautiful meadow,

Lined with rows of thorns.

Demons hidden in the darkness,

Their victims’ skeletons shadowed by rose bushes,

Whom I have no sympathy to mourn.

Greeted by dusty sunsets,

Bid farewell by coal black moons,

Looked upon by empty, gray clouds.

Happiness has no place here,

Faith has all vanished,

Everything hopeful is gone, no doubt.

I know it sounds dreadful,

But this is all I know,

This meadow named depression is my home.

No matter who attempts to enter,

Who attempts to save me,

I’ll always reside in this place, all alone.

I refuse to leave,

Unless my lover comes to save me,

I’m damned to die; a war that cannot be won.

Yet, this is impossible,

For the lover I once knew,

       is long gone…

This was inspired by a song titled "I don't think about you anymore but, I don't think about you" by the "Hungry Ghosts."

No problem. ^^
"Their victims’ skeletons shadowed by rose bushes,"
[I've always found something off about roses . . . ]
So descriptive, I could see every shard of darkness pressing into your skin, the patches of dead and vibrant grasses, and every whispering demon muttering those words that keep you bound.

Darkness hiding within the light.... How is that possible?
The ending was great. It was like a tumble of thread, thread being thoughts, that just ran out in a sort of sad muse...
"The Meadow." Definitely not what I was expecting.
I was thinking of some ode to nature...
Great piece.
I enjoyed the imagery in the poem...
"Whom I have no sympathy to morn..."
Powerful.

Aw, Tai...That is so melancholic...Depression is hard to handle and I hope you're not really experiencing it. And the ending is so sad...Waiting for someone who will never come totally hurts! Anyway, this was a great piece!
