The Caged Bird

The Caged Bird

     So depressing how he is separated

            From the world by all these small, metal bars

     How cheerless that it is treated so cruel

           Sometimes I wonder how it still has a pure heart

     If I were him, I'd be so unhappy

            Being a bird who can't spread his wings

     Given such a roughshod life at times

            I wonder how could he still happily sing

     I think I may know why he sings

            Given all these miserly things

     His cruel, cold world

            But he still accepts the world he lives in

     With the mental mind of good things

            He embraces the life he was given

Aw, sad poem...In my opinion, birds should be freed and mustn't be treated like that...What's the use of their wings if they're just inside the horrible cage? Great writing of yours... :)))
