In nutshell, legend or layman

In nutshell, legend or layman

A Poem by Linda alexander
"

You can live as a layman or legend, choice is yours

"
Ate, paid the bills, cooked and cleaned
Worked, slept, worked again
Graciously aged, went to bed for sleep permanent
Left the mark on grave as lay man

Helped some one, sobbed with some one
Did not leave some one, even in darkest moments
World said inside, he or she is strong man
Yes, I will call her or him, a legend

what we have been, are and will be is certainly about the choices we make .. and no matter the background ..we choose and are responsible .. i like the day in day out quality of your poem .. reminds me of my dad (i will call him a legend) he never complained, got up every day and went to work, highly unlikely he ever was unfaithful to my mom, drank a beer or two too many from time to time always paid the bills; taught us to fear God and care about those around us ... i am pretty lucky .. thanks for sharing this poem ..

do we ever really set out to become either one... and do we even know for sure that we have achieved such worthy goals.. are we allowed to judge ourselves.. my magic mirror is not so so clear.. it often lies to me..

Sounds like You've been speaking from a great place of devotion and dedication relapsing in every single ever so more tender moment not pondering or giving time to think about what you have or could've done done. You sounds proud of what you exactly did and up from there up came an ocean rum thumb potion

Thank you very much for the kind words, take care
interesting poem about the consequences of a self-preservation lifestyle versus a much more empathetic, active lifestyle. Speaks very true, and subtle rhyme adds nice form to the whole thing. Very good.

To chart your own destiny requires self-knowledge and understanding. In today's world, the rat race impedes us from taking time out from the tides and currents and make our way to the shore, sit down and quietly reflect. Societal demands prevent us from claiming our own destinies so we simply must make the effort to do that.

Well said, good luck with it, we definitely need candidates like that, bravo
we are many facets,
some rough - barely hewn,
some polished - all aglow,
some ...just bare dirt-encrusted stone.
We sooooo want black and white...
til it's us doing as we must or
just barely can.

You have a noble mission, Linda. I admire you for that. In this world, we only live once, so we should do whatever makes us happy and contented.

Love this piece.
