PrefaceA Chapter by Laine JohnsonPreface to One Half of a Soul.i often like to think of humans as one half of a soul, inhabiting a body. just floating, wandering, almost" in hopes that one day the fraction may become a whole. trying different souls to find harmony with ours. we are able to function without part number two, and it’s not crucial to our individual lives without it. but when we discover the other half of the puzzle that fits together with ours perfectly, we are whole. i believe each half out there has a perfect match. it’s just that some of us are lucky enough to find this other, and some of us aren’t. i am one half of a soul. you are one half of a soul. but you were made for someone else, as was i. it’s almost like a mystery, isn’t it? but we are hopeful, and we’re always waiting to bump into the other half of our soul. i, Dahlia Whitman, am not so hopeful. i believe someone out there would be perfect for me, sure. or at least as perfect a match as someone could get. but with nearly 7 billion people in the world, how on earth would i ever find them? what is fate, anyway? © 2010 Laine Johnson |
